Hello and welcome to our weekly update. If this is your first newsletter thank you very much for signing up. These weekly postings generally end up being too long to display in your inbox so please be sure to click through to read it all in either the app or in your web browser.
The Open exhibition at the Shrewsbury Art Trail is now, well, open! Can’t promise I’m not going to mention this a few more times over the summer as I’m very happy to be part of the event. I’ve not been to see the display yet but my sister nipped into the gallery and took a photo for me. It looks alright doesn’t it?
When I visit I’ll take some more photos to share with you, but in the meantime, if you are in travelling distance why not visit? Shrewsbury is a great town even without a summer of art events to enjoy. If you’re on Instagram you’ll find they have an account there and also here’s a link to the website…
Tomorrow the penultimate session of Art Club goes live on the website. If you’re signed up for Art Club already please do check in to see the new video which’ll be available just after breakfast UK time 😊. Of course there’s no need to rush to watch, that’s the beauty of working online, it’ll be there when you’re ready. That said we cover a lot of ideas in this session and so we hope you’ll be excited to get started exploring them. Here’s a look at a new painting of mine which I talk about in this lesson.
This one is painted in acrylic on a canvas board. Here’s a detail:
These roses are ones that grow in my garden. They’re in an awkward corner, squashed up by a fence and I only really see them when I take something to the bin! It’s been nice to study them properly and give them the attention that they deserve.
Linda’s been doing loads of work in her sketchbook for Art Club including these pages which are a combination of acrylic medium, watercolour and Inktense pencils.
Art Club is open for new sign-ups and we’d love to have you join us. You can read about it and sign up here:
and don‘t forget the Pinterest board is here if you’d like to see some of the work done by the students so far.
New work for sale
I have added the rose painting and several other new pieces to my website and they are all available for purchase with pieces starting at £25. I’d love for them to find new homes and they are all ready for immediate shipping.

Please pop over to my website to take a look at all the new things in more detail.
A Grand Master Plan?
How often do you make a plan? Do you sit from time to time and figure out what you want to be doing this time next year, or in five years? I’m pretty hopeless at planning that far ahead to be honest, but every so often Linda and I do put our heads together and talk about what projects we’d like to work towards. I asked her today what her five year plan was and whether it involved a hammock and a mojito. She replied with a look that suggested that might quite possibly be a possibility! Seriously though, I’m not letting her hang up her paintbrush just yet.
What would you like from us over the next couple of years? We’d love your input and suggestions. Keeping a creative business like ours going is very difficult at the moment, we know everyone’s resources are stretched and choices have to be made. We want to try to offer the things that you want to see. So tell us, what would you like:
Short online workshops
Longer online courses
Face-to-face classes
Zoom sessions
A new actual in print physical book
More how-to/inspirational articles here on substack
More stitchy content
More drawing and painting
More sketchbook stuff
Please let us know in the comments below and of course add your own suggestions and feedback. It’s really important for us to gauge what you’re looking for and at the end of the day, are willing to pay for. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Of course if you prefer to write privately, you can always email instead.

I would love an actual physical book, that I can enjoy at my leisure with a cup of tea, and take out whenever I need inspiration. I know how much work that would be, but ... I still enjoy looking through the first book plus the thr3fold ones. But, the truth is that I like everything you do. So thank you for all the work you do. So much inspiration ...
Online short courses and workshops and sketchbook stuff are my choices. Collage in paper as well as fabric is my current focus so that too. I love the wide variety you offer and at such reasonable prices. A new book would be great even if you just put into print some of vast content you already offer. Thanks to you both for so much inspiration.
